the majestic Meleto Castle is a charming construction, strategically located on the top of an hilll on the boundaries of the Republic of Siena and the Republic of Florence, and the castle of Meleto has been the theatre of many wars between the Guelphs and the Gibellines, including the second Aragonese invasion of the Chianti region in 1478 when it was occupied by enemy troops as well as during the Medici War in 1529 when it was sieged by Siena’s militia.

Meleto Castle

The castle still has a military layout. It comprises an irregular four-sided stronghold with the Cassero tower at the centre. The interior of the castle has many furnished rooms embellished with XVIII Century frescos and a rather unique and charming small theatre.

An exclusive experience just for you! The private guided tour will enable you to discover this ancient castle and visit the magnificent rooms on the “piano nobile”, the small theatre dating back to 1742 that still has seven original set designs as well as some vintage stage “machinery”, the gardens and the ancient cellars.
